Sun energy was very strong where I am located in Florida today. Moon energy is there too but with a sun charge.

One student inquired into some routine Sanskrit salutations which we make before breath infusion on some mornings. These prayers are used in a theistic way by those who accept deities and in a scientific way by those who do not.

Om suryaya namah

Om somaya namah

On indraya namah

Om pranavayave namah

Jai Sri Mahadeva!

Surya is the sun or Sun god

Soma is the moon or Moon god

Indra is the weather or weather god

Pranavayu is the prana or charged air energy with vayu which is the moving force of the air.

Mahadeva in this case refers specifically to Lord Shiva, the master of the yogis and their patron deity support person.

We are able to do yoga because Shiva has remained doing yoga since the creation began. Without his doing this, our chances of doing this are nil. We are taking help from him to do this, otherwise we would be discouraged from the practice totally.

Between food and air, the yogi recognizes air as the essential necessity for both the gross and subtle bodies, but the air has to be charged by the sun and moon as well as by the weather situation in one’s location. Over all Shiva is the one who inspires one to abandon the material social scene and take time out to do yoga practice.

There is so much pressure against yoga, there are so many people related to us who dislike it and instinctively see that it is not in their interest that if Shiva did not do it, we could not muster the interest to complete it. We would comply with the materialistic souls. For that we have to constantly realize Shiva and take help from him.
