Both Taoist and Tantric texts refer to the detrimental effects of anal intercourse and reverse kundalini, yet few people make reference to this wisdom. Why has it been avoided?

MiBeloved’s Remark:

Anything having to do with sexual freedoms and sexual preference is a touchy issue because it entails encroaching on the real or imagined rights of the individual.

There is also some confusion where people think that any conversation which has to do with restriction of social interaction, is meant to cramp their style.

First we need to clarify that yoga concerns personal objectives. To attain these certain sacrifices need to be made and certain new habits needs to be established.

For instance in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, there is a description of yoga practice as being an 8th staged system beginning with certain dos and certain don’ts. But this is not like the Ten Commandments where the tribal leader comes down from fasting on the mountain and issues prohibitions and compliances. In the yoga process you adopt the dos and don’ts because that is what you must do to attain your goals.

Sexual restraint is a part of the yoga process, passing under the Sanskrit term of brahmachari. If you want to attain a high state, then it is up to you how far you will go on the path. You apply certain restrictions or allowances to yourself as you proceed to gain more and more access.

It is not about social behavior in the clan, church or nation. It is yourself and what you want to achieve. If a certain sexual engagement ruins your practice, then you abandon that if you want to progress further. It is up to you.
