The big illusion about youth is the lack of memory of life in old age in previous bodies. Due to that absence of past life experiences, one feels as if one will have an eternal youthful material body, which of course is a grand delusion.
The uniqueness of Gautama Buddha is that he saw through the whole scope of many lives in many bodies, and so he turned away from the grand delusion and attained liberation.

Yes, rare it is to know a young person with the ability to really see the whole picture of life.

I had a student one time who told me that she would kill herself when she got old. To her old age was a dreadful thing. She could not imagine getting old. She said that old people were disgusting to her. At the time she was twenty years old. I asked her if she would kill herself if she felt really good and healthy when she reached 60. She replied "No." I then said, "But you just said you would kill yourself when you got old. What changed your mind?" She did not reply.
For just a second or two I think she was that person at sixty years of age and realized how precious life is. For that brief moment she was in the NOW forty years in the future. In other words, her mind was transported into the future and back to the present in the blink of an eye and she saw the truth.
