Continued from above…
Kapalbhati is this rapid breathing with stress on the exhale only. This means the focus of the mind on the breath action is on the exhale and the exhale is done with emphasis forcibly.
In Bhastrika the student has the extra task of doing both the exhale and inhale with force. So bhastrika should not be done until kapala bhati has become a reflex. The mind should be kept within the psyche which is to say within the boundaries of the subtle body and should not be allowed to wander around outside of the subtle body. In addition any pose in which one is standing up should be done with great care in terms of keeping an eye out for kundalini.
Kundalini has a way about it, where sometimes during the practice, it rises suddenly without warning. If one is not expert at detecting its movement, it will do so and one will be caught off-guard. So inner attentiveness is required.
To develop this attentiveness I have given chapter one in the Meditation Pictorial book with all the diagrams and instructions needed to develop the mind lock pratyahar practice. This is the practice which equips the student to deal with kundalini when it arises and moves up the spine into the head.
That chapter one is something that I recently did. Meaning I did it in this life. It is not something from a book and it was not designed in India using a brahmin or yogi family body. I used a regular western body and developed that so I know it works in this type of body. I was given it as a practice around 1974 by Babaji (of the kriya lineage) and it took about 4 years of steady practice for me to get a handle on it.
The reason why it is important is this:
When the student begins he or she does so with the presumption or preconception that the self is the psyche. This is not correct but it is where a student begins. So that practice is to be used at the stage of that assumption. When it is mastered then one gets the insight that the self is not the psyche.

Dean's comment/question:
It is understandable that you have to focus on your own practice because of your impending death. And you have told us several times that most of your teachers have been on the astral planes. So what of your students who are serious about leaving this place? Will we be able to meet and practice with you astrally? Most of us, probably meet with you currently in the astral and lack the perception to recall it. But with continued practice hopefully that perception will develop by the time you pass from this body. And we can be the ones reporting back to everyone on the forum of our experiences with you on the astral planes. I know it’s a lot to endeavor towards now since I am only in the beginning stages of my spiritual practice. However, you always say if you don't make any endeavors spiritually they will never happen.
MiBeloved’s Response:
I am just an agent. The real yogis are Krishna and Shiva. These are the people who are ultimately at the head of the lineages of all genuine yogis. This means then that I am dispensable.
My importance is there because of agency, because I was sent to do a job. If you neglect me then it is okay, no harm, but if you neglect me as an agent then you might be doing yourself in because then the people who sent me might take note of it and react to you unfavorably.
Again I am not indispensible. If one agent disappears, they will send another.
Reaching me on the astral planes later after I am evicted from this material body residence which I am now using, is a crazy idea. An agent may be sent home for good in which case the service will continue coming through another employee. Like you might become attached to your postman but the supervisors at the post office might fire him or retire him or move him somewhere else. When they do this they will replace him with another trained employee.
So it is like that. Have no fear.
It would be inappropriate for me to think that I should stay on to keep giving instructions even after I was dismissed and someone else has taken my place. Rest assured that if you are sincere and if you have reached a certain point, then definitely Shiva or Krishna will send an agent.
I have to take instructions from above and that means that I cannot be planning to stay behind to instruct anyone. My life is not in my hands. You know it is like an infant. He or she has to do what the parents say to a greater degree and his or her life is in compliance with that of the parents.
None of my yoga gurus has given me instructions to maintain disciples later on or to come back and tend to disciples. So I have no plan for any of this.
I did what they wanted me to do by taking this body but now they are saying that the work is mostly done and that I should leave quietly and be with some siddhas on the other side. It is not that they are giving that as a boon. I actually have to get myself cleaned up to achieve that. So If I pay attention to anything else, I will indirectly do myself in, if you know what I mean.
Have no fear! I came because someone else wanted to assist you. So that someone else, Krishna or Shiva still has that interest in you and will see to it that you get whatever technique you require as progress.

Dean's Comment: I understand. Thank you for the encouragement.

The subtle body needs rest too. Sometimes it is floating inside or outside of the physical form and sleeping like that just the way fish floats in water and sleeps without touching any hard surface. Is the self, the glorious, spiritual self, the god-self concerned with all this?
Dean's question: you said that the subtle body sleeps. Is there a specific time that it sleeps and does it need as much sleep as the physical body?
