Comment to Born Again?
  • Reminds me of Puranic stories :

    1. Agastya ate goat meat (demon vatapi), vatapi usually comes out from the eater's body but here Agastya digests him
    2. Sukracharya ate Katch, only to reborn by mritasanjivani mantra from his body
    3. Vishnu swallowed Brahma, only to be come out thru his navel or belly button (Padma-nabha: lotus in navel)

Very common to go inside someone's body and come out thru different orifice or split and come out.

    • I meant "Puranas" (Puranic)

Purana means old or ancient in Sanskrit.

Here Puranas means ancient or old literature in Sanskrit which contains lots of ancient stories about universe, gods and Hindu mythology.

There are 18 main Puranas like Matsya, Kurma, Skanda, Markendaya, Garuda, Brahma, Vamana, etc. They are mostly written by Vyasa again.

Puranas contain lot of conversations between gods and saints in previous yugas or eons.

      • Good point, we all come thru an orifice too, it did not strike me, in fact I totally forgot!

        • Oops! I now realize that you mentioned puranas/puranic ... in your post. I should have read more closely. It's right there in your first sentence!

I was questioning myself if I was correctly applying the term in my post.Had I read your post with due attention it deserves, this wouldn't have happened, as I wouldn't have questioned (?). My confusion.

Quiet unfortunately for me, I am not versed in any scriptures, and not trying to become learned in them, at this time. But the explanations may be useful for others. Thank you.
