The Darwinian model of evolution also included the “root brain”. It could have led to a better understanding and acceptance of plants and vegetation form of intelligence if the concept hadn’t been dismissed on its face.
Actually, what is little known of Darwin is that the second half of his life was more focus on plant life (see, The Power of Movement of Plants). This is a century and a quarter ago! Had humanity’s intelligence been sufficiently advanced back then, by now the original question regarding birds-nature-evolution-God could as easily been about a plant species instead. After all, their contribution and presence are a prime, indispensable foundation to our own humanity as we know it.
