27 Kilometers of human genius and brilliance, and adding billions of dollars (of human energy/ productivity) is certainly the long and extended version to find out that there is something else out there, and of accepting of extra dimensions beyond human understanding.
Even if that is the established faith in acquiring information and knowledge, creating one particle from smashing more particular of them against one another can only say so much. I agree that observing that, it is Nature (itself) is a good conclusion.
But then to say the only way to know it is by interacting with it, studying it; how about experiencing it? Otherwise, are they thinking to discover consciousness, its aspects and levels in that way, through a series of colliders?
